April
29, 2006 In honor of all matriarchs, artist Jennifer Sullivan performed an evening of Madonna karaoke to the two guests, who were asked to come dressed as their favorite celebrities - which turned out to be Clark Kent and SuperGirl. An open call was sent out to photographers to come make like paparazzi and shoot stealth images of the diners. The space was decorated with an altar to Sullivan's childhood heroine. Fritz Chesnut's dramatic paintings and drawings of people karaoking flanked a pink-draped table with heart-shaped candle. Resident vegetarian chef Jessica Higgins concocted an all white ensemble of tasty dishes. Like a well-oiled Las Vegas act, Sullivan's six song set included numerous costume changes, and a bit of kitsche. She opened with Crazy for You and closed with Ray of Light. |
