1971 marks the birth year of Humanitarians Not Heroes' founder to De and Sang Nguyen in Gia Dinh, Saigon. To mark the occasion, a small edition of stereoscopic cards were printed depicting the parents in earlier French colonial times.

In reference to Petrarch, the great Italian humanist, poet, and scholar, the silhouette of a sailing vessel is depicted through the three-dimensional lens with a stream of trailing text proclaiming "Great Pan is dead!"
